Sometimes, in order to correct or straighten teeth, more than orthodontic correction is needed. Examples are severe overbites as well as jaw asymmetries. Often, a combination of orthodontic treatment and orthognathic (jaw) surgery must be performed. This surgery will be performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at a specific time during the orthodontic treatment.
